At the end of the year, select students who have exceeded the standards will be included on the Honor Roll list and recognized during our graduation ceremony. An Honor Roll student will also receive a personal letter of recommendation signed by Pastor Matthew Barnett, and will be put on a list of initial recommendations should partnering ministries reach out for potential staffing needs. The following standards must be met to be considered for Honor Roll:
-Average 90% for all Scripture test throughout the year.
-Cannot exceed the allotted twelve personal days
-Cannot have received more than five strikes
-Average meeting or surpassing expectations with all required notes
-Average meeting or surpassing expectations with all book study assignments
-Average meeting or surpassing expectations with all essays
DCLS is between 7 1/2 months and 9 months depending on which session you attend.
Our longest and largest session begins in September and ends in June. This is always our largest class as it runs along the same time frame as traditional college entry points.
Our winter session begins in January and ends in August.
The cost for all students is $7,000. This price includes the Dream Center Leadership School program fee and the rooming/housing fee.
If a student chooses to take the Southeastern University college courses while attending DCLS, they will be charged an additional $200 per credit hour. For example, if a student chooses to take a full load and is enrolled in 24 credit hours (four classes per semester) during their stay, it would be an additional $4,800.
*If the Dream Center Leadership School is paid in full, by start date, student will receive a 10% discount off of the $7,000.
** Students can qualify for financial aid and student loans to help cover the Southeastern University tuition if eligible.
If you have any questions about financial aid or Southeastern University tuition you can email our Dream Center Leadership School representative, Airos Lopez at alopez@dreamcenter.org
Once we receive your online application and the other required documents we will call you for an over-the-phone interview. The application process moves very quickly once we receive from you.

We accept applications to DCLS year round. There are limited spots available in DCLS so we suggest applying as early as possible. You can apply up to a year before you would want to come. For example if you want to come in September 2020, we will start accepting applications for that session in September 2019.

No, we do get a lot of students that know they are called to full time ministry, but we also get a lot of students that want to give a “gap-year” to leadership training and servanthood. We have many students that come for a year or two and then go to college or to a job after their time in DCLS.
Over the years we have developed a very balanced schedule within DCLS. Each day has a mix of teaching and training time, personal spiritual formation time (prayer, worship, devotions) and hands-on ministry time. Our heart is to train and equip and also give many opportunities to students for ministry and outreach to put into practice what they are learning.

We accept students between the ages of 18-24. Students can also be 17 if they have already graduated high school.

Our partner college, Southeastern University has allowed the students of the Dream Center Leadership School to pay $ 275.00 a semester hour. This is a great price for faith-based Higher Education. The 24 semester hours will cost $6,600. An additional 3 hours of practicum credits are granted each semester at no charge to the student. These practicum hours are granted for the service and outreach that students are a part of during their time at The Dream Center. With these practicum hours students will receive 30 credits after their first year.
There is also a $100 technology fee per student charged per semester. Other fees for textbooks and educational supplies are to be assumed by the student.
Because Southeastern is a regionally accredited institution, its partnership with a church-based extension site enables enrolled students to pay for their college experience using federal financial aid. To be eligible for such funding, the student must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as a FAFSA (SEU’s school code is 001521), and maintain 12 credit hours each semester. In doing so, the student may apply for federal aid in the form of a Pell Grant, federal Stafford (student) loan of federal parent loan.

The Southeastern University Extension site operates two semesters during the nine months that students are in the Dream Center Leadership School. SEU offers two courses (six semester hours) every eight weeks during each semester. Students can enroll in one of 2 degree programs offered through the Southeastern University extension site here at The Dream Center. The academic programs of choice are the Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Ministerial Leadership (AML).

No, the college classes are not required. We understand students are in different places in life and may choose not to take the college courses while in DCLS. Each year there is about 25% of the students that choose to take the college classes.

We have worked the schedule so all college classes take place on Thursdays. We did this so students taking college courses can still be a part of the ministry tracks that take place in the afternoons. If you choose to take the classes you will have 3 afternoons of ministry tracks instead of 4 each week. The great thing about the Dream Center is there are many servanthood and outreach opportunities outside of the weekly DCLS schedule.

We strongly encourage students to begin fundraising early on! Once accepted, we will send a sample support letter for students to use. We encourage them to send the letters to everyone they know… family, friends, local businesses, church members etc. We have seen entire tuition’s paid off from outside support. We think you will be pleasantly surprised. Also if you take the college courses you can apply for federal financial aid and student loans.

In the time that we have been here, we have never had any major issues. We go over security and safety policies with all students during orientation week. Living in a big city we challenge them to be wise and never walk out in the neighborhoods alone. As far as the Dream Center campus, we have security on duty 24/7.

DCLS was originally designed as a one-year program. As DCLS has grown we have developed a need for 2nd year leadership students. If students want to come back for a second year, they reapply at the end of their first year and go through an interview process to be reaccepted as a second year student.
